Logan came to Canada in the late 1980s as a refugee from a country torn by civil war. With little money, Logan eventually started his own successful insurance firm. In 2006, Logan ran for City Councillor in Ward 7 Markham becoming the first Tamil Canadian elected in North America. In 2010 and 2014, Logan was re-elected with larger mandates from his constituents. Since his first election, Logan has earned a reputation as one of the hardest working Councillors in Markham and always being available for his constituents. Some of Logan's key contributions to the city of Markham:

  • Championed the development of the $72 million state of the art recreation complex
  • Played a key role in achieving ZERO PERCENT (0%) property tax increase for three consecutive years in Markham as past Vice-Chair and current Chief of the Budget Committee
  • Achieved unanimous approval of a cost sharing and implementation agreement between Regional Municipality of York and the City of Toronto in July 2014 for widening of Steeles Ave road east of Markham Rd
  • Expanded Markham's business relations internationally to promote development and investment. His advocacy took the Markham-India Business Mission to Chennai, Tamil Nadu in January 2013 for the first time ever in Markham's history
  • Instrumental in creating over 16 parks in Markham-Thornhill
  • Promoting sustainability in Markham-Thornhill through his long term involvement in the Rouge Park Alliance Implementation Committee
  • First public official to recognize Tamil Heritage Month and passing a resolution in city council to label the set of events leading up to the end of Sri Lanka's civil war in May 2009 as genocide

As our Progressive Conservative MPP for Markham-Thornhill, Logan will continue to be a strong voice for our community, which is evident throughout his 9 years of strong leadership and proven results.
